There’s is a change in the air this September for search engine mega-giant Google, and it’s arriving in an almost unnoticeable fashion. What is it?
A Major Google Overhaul Is In The Works
Aside from a new major restructuring of the company that is currently underway, there’s a give “Google new logo” mantra being chanted. Some in the IT industry believe that to stay relevant, you must succumb to discomfort, and stretch yourself a few notches more. Change is something Google excels in, but how much is successful change?
The Google Old Logo
Starting out with a rather kindgarten, goofy look and feel, millions of people became quickly yielded to a name and colors that looked less formal and business-like.
The Google New Logo
Today, a new font has replaced the older childlike look. Now becoming a sans-serif typeface in an attempt to make it look more contemporary, progressively modern and unadorned, one has to really look hard to notice a change.
While the Google new logo look is still its basic word mark, Google, the colors are somewhat dimmer. However, the same four basic colors of blue, green, red and gold remain.
Another perhaps less noticeable change is found in replacing the little blue “g” with a capital “G” that is more aligned with the rest of the lettering scheme.
What’s The Reason For The Change?
Actually, its in keeping with Google’s never-ending philosophy to both keep up and be the cutting-edge in a IT-dominated world–even at the cost of losing some intransigent customers.
One case in point is that when Google was introduced, it was built primarily for a single desktop browser page. Now, several shifts forward through laptops, and modern hand-held digital devices, different types of inputs are needed such as taping, typing and speech.
Meanwhile, consumers are not exactly holding their breaths in anticipation of more Google changes–at least for now. Many wish the people at Google would simply get things working right first before going on to the next innovative project.
